7-A-SIDE

RULES AND REGULATIONS

TEAMS

Teams are comprised of 7 players (including goalkeeper). A forfeit will occur if any team cannot field a squad by 15 minutes after start time (3-0). A team can play with a minimum of 5 people.

KIT

All players must wear the same colour shirts (except GK). Shin pads are compulsory and must be worn due to health and safety. All jewellery must be removed or taped over, again, due to health and safety.

FOOTWEAR

The only place where you can get your boots on! NO metal stud/screw in allowed. DO NOT wear indoor shoes – you’ll slip everywhere. We would suggest a rubber stud/blade.

RESPECT

Referees enforce the rules and maintain safety. They will have the last word along with the league coordinator. Excessive arguing will result in a yellow card being issued. Cursing at or disparaging an official can result in a red card. Respect the referee, they are there to help everyone follow the rules for a fair and more enjoyable game, remember, they are people to, so treat with them with the respect.

MATCH

In general, standard football rules apply to all CFC games.

 i. Each half starts with one team initiating play by making a pass from the centre of the field. The ball does not have to travel forward.

ii. If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the side-lines, a throw-in is awarded to the opposite team.

iii. If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the goal line by the offense, a free/goal kick is awarded to the defending team.

iv. If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the goal line by the defence, a corner kick is awarded to the attacking team.

v. Unlimited substitutions are allowed as long as the referee is made aware of the changes Substitutions may occur at any time by notifying the referee and him/her confirming it. A substitution cannot result in an advantageous play on the ball. If it does, the play can be whistled dead and a free kick awarded to the disadvantaged team.

TIME

A running clock will be maintained by the referee. The clock will stop only for prolonged injury timeouts. Any delay tactics (such as deliberately kicking the ball out of bounds) will allow the referee (at his/her discretion) to stop the clock. All games will be 2x25 minutes in length.

POINTS

Teams will receive 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and zero for a loss. League placing’s will be decided by points gained, followed by goal difference, followed by goals scored, followed by the aggregate result between the two teams in question.

OFF-SIDES

There are NO off-sides. However, a strategy of consistently exploiting this is considered to be unsportsmanlike.

SLIDE TACKLING

Even if contact is made with the ball first, slide tackling is NOT ALLOWED under any circumstances. As well, no players can slide to block a shot or pass at any time. The exception to this rules is the goalkeeper who may perform a hands first 'slide' to smotther the ball inside the box.

ROUGH PLAY

ANY EXCESSIVE ROUGH OR PHYSICAL PLAY WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM FURTHER LEAGUE PLAY AND MAY RESULT IN LIFETIME LEAGUE EXPULSION.
