9-A-SIDE 2018
RULES AND CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Teams are comprised of 9 players (including goalkeeper). A forfeit will occur if any team cannot field a squad by 15 minutes after start time (5-0). A team can play with a minimum of 6 people.
2. All players must wear the same colour shirts (except GK).
3. Shin pads are compulsory and must be worn due to health and safety. All jewellery must be removed or taped over, again, due to health and safety.
4. FOOTWEAR – the only place where you can get your boots on! NO metal stud/screw in allowed. DO NOT wear indoor shoes – you’ll slip everywhere. We would suggest a rubber stud/blade.
5. RESPECT. Referees enforce the rules and maintain safety. They will have the last word along with the league coordinator. Excessive arguing will result in a yellow card being issued. Cursing at or disparaging an official can result in a red card. Respect the referee, they are there to help everyone follow the rules for a fair and more enjoyable game. Any one player receiving 3 yellow cards over the course of a single league or a red card will be suspended for the following game.
6. In general, standard football rules apply to all CFC games.
i. Each half starts with one team initiating play by making a pass from the centre of the field. The ball does not have to travel forward.
ii. If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the side-lines, a throw-in is awarded to the opposite team.
iii. If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the goal line by the offense, a free/goal kick is awarded to the defending team.
iv. If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the goal line by the defence, a corner kick is awarded to the attacking team.
v. Rolling substitutions are allowed but must be permitted by the referee.
7. Teams will receive 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and zero for a loss. League placing’s will be decided by points gained, followed by goal difference, followed by goals scored, followed by the aggregate result between the two teams in question.
8. Offsides. When an attacking player receives the ball while on his opponents half, he must be level or behind the second to last defender (the last typically being the goalkeeper). However, this rule only applies if he is involved with the play. To get a better understanding of the offside rule, please see the guide section for a more detailed explanation.
9. Time: A running clock will be maintained by the referee. The clock will stop only for prolonged injury timeouts. Any delay tactics (such as deliberately kicking the ball out of bounds) will allow the referee (at his/her discretion) to stop the clock or issue a yellow card.
11. Rough Play: ANY ROUGH OR PHYSICAL PLAY WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM FURTHER LEAGUE PLAY AND MAY RESULT IN LIFETIME LEAGUE EXPULSION.
